Jello Shot Birthday Cake

Here in Iowa, April really does bring plenty of showers. So on rainy days you'll usually find us applying our talents to indoor projects.  This week Photographer and I decided to experiment with Jello, more specifically we endeavored on creating a Jello Shot Birthday Cake for Baker.

You'll see we use the term "cake" loosely as this is basically 80 Jello shots stacked up in a turkey roaster that Photographer decoupaged.

We were complete novices but we were surprised at not only how easy and quick the process was (we made 5 different recipes and it took about 30 minutes total from start to finish, not including refrigeration time ofcourse) but the end result was fun and yummy!

Here is a simple recipe to follow:

      6 ounces Jello (large package)

      16 ounces Water (boiling)
        6 ounces Water (cold)
        10 ounces vodka or rum

Stir the Jello packet into the boiling water. Once powder is dissolved, pour mixture into a bowl containing the alcohol and cold water. Stir until all parts are thoroughly scrambled and pour into shot cups.  Let sit for at least 4 hours or until Jello has "set up".

Our favorite Jello shot was the Fuzzy Navel in which we used orange Jello and peach schnapps! These tasty treats were a fun edition to the party. If you are looking for a sure fire way to get your party started try using the Jello Shots in a game. ;)
